Throughout the book, Kirk and his friends realize that SP&M is trying to manipulate world leaders and start wars. With the help of Herkomus, Kirk trains to use his hypnosis skills to stop the organization. Along the way, Kirk learns more about the power of his abilities and the difficult choices he must make.
